Award-winning multimedia journalist Lauren Gilger will join public radio station, KJZZ 91.5 FM in December, 2015.
Gilger was recognized in 2013 with both the George Foster Peabody Award and the Edward R. Murrow Award for her work resulting in a safety recall of more than 700,000 SUVs.
“Lauren will be a great complement to the KJZZ team,” said Jon Hoban, KJZZ’s programming manager. ”She’s dedicated to uncovering the stories of wrongdoing and reporting in-depth on all of the groups that make Phoenix unique. Lauren’s background and approach will further our efforts to give context to the news of our community”
Gilger’s work has been published nationally in The Washington Post and appeared in ABC’s Nightline. She served most recently as a multimedia journalist and investigative producer for ABC15 Investigators. She previously worked as a contributor for the Phoenix New Times and at the East Valley Tribune.
“After four years in television, I’m excited to make the move to radio,” Gilger said. “I’ve admired KJZZ’s work in journalism and in building the Phoenix community for years and I can’t wait to join the team.”
Gilger is a graduate of Fordham University in New York and the ASU Cronkite School of Journalism.
Gilger will be a host and producer for KJZZ Original Productions creating content for multiple platforms, conducting interviews and producing features for broadcast and digital publication.
