KJZZ listeners may have noticed two new voices on the air. Through a series of grant funded initiatives, KJZZ recently expanded its roster to include Science and Innovation Reporter Andrew Bernier and Senior Business Correspondent Kristena Hansen.
A $45,00 Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust grant will fund KJZZ coverage of significant community issues like healthy aging, arts and culture, and early childhood programs in Maricopa County.
Close to $1,000,000 has been made available through support from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and grants from Arizona Community Foundation, St. Luke's Health Initiatives and the Arizona Commerce Authority to establish specialized science and innovation reporting at all four Arizona public radio stations.
Sponsorship grants to Friends of Public Radio Arizona from American Traffic Solutions and Alliance Bank of Arizona also played a crucial role in funding business, science and innovation reporting at KJZZ.
Specialized coverage will include targeted story segments airing on KJZZ's Original Productions including The Show with Hosts Mark Brodie and Steve Goldstein on Thursdays and Fridays at 2 p.m.and KJZZ's Here and Now with Steve Goldstein Wednesdays at 11 a.m.
